La professione che andremo ad esaminare oggi è quella del fumettista, in oriente meglio conosciuto come mangaka, un tipo di professione molto particolare che non tutti possono permettersi di svolgere.
Prima di scoprire gli aspetti chiave di questa professione, è giusto dare spazio e comprendere meglio ciò che riguarda il mondo dei fumetti.
Nonostante ciò che si potrebbe pensare, il lavoro del fumettista ha un ruolo decisamente importante con cifre da capogiro non soltanto in oriente, bensì in tutto il globo.
La cosa più bella di questa professione è la capacità di riuscire a dare vita alle immagini, riuscire a creare un mondo dal nulla, capace di trasmettere qualcosa a chiunque lo osservi.
Questa è la particolarità del fumettista!
Le sue creazioni non sono semplici disegni come molti si immaginano, la sua è vera e propria arte.
Si dice che la bellezza sia soggettiva e, spesso, a piacere sono proprio le cose che riescono a trasmetterci sensazioni ed emozioni. Basti pensare all’arte, ai quadri esposti nei musei, per molti dei semplici dipinti ma, per chi è in grado di coglierne le sfumature e ciò che si nascone dietro, quei semplici quadri diventano qualcosa di magico, unico, e così è anche per il lavoro del fumettista.
Dopo questa piccola ma doverosa premessa è giusto capire un po’ meglio la figura del fumettista, spiegandone i vari aspetti.
Per prima cosa, l’ambito del fumettista si può dividere in diversi ruoli. Un fumettista può decidere di fare il semplice soggettista, il disegnatore o lo sceneggiatore, insomma, può optare per un ruolo specifico oppure proporsi per tutti i ruoli, ricoprendo così la carica di fumettista completo.
In altre parole, per svolgere questo tipo di professione non basta saper disegnare, servono incredibili capacità racchiuse tutte in un’unica persona o, se si è fortunati, riuscire a trovare un buon team con cui collaborare e dividere le parti.
Ora che sappiamo qualcosa in più sull’arte del fumetto (già, ho usato il termine arte perché lo trovo più appropriato per questo ambiente) addentriamoci in quelli che sono gli aspetti chiave per qualunque professione, partendo da quelli che sono i compiti fondamentali di ogni fumettista.
1. Quali sono i compiti del fumettista
La professione del fumettista non si limita al semplice disegno su carta. Dovessimo fare un paragone, potremmo dire che il fumettista è alla stregua del regista, ma con carta e penna.
Il regista ha i propri strumenti di lavoro che possono essere le luci, le inquadrature delle videocamere e così via, mentre il fumettista elabora la propria creazione tramite carta, penna e altro ancora.
Esattamente come il regista, il ruolo del fumettista è quello di dare vita a un’opera che trasmetta qualcosa a chiunque la osservi, e quest’opera può essere frutto del proprio ingegno e della propria fantasia oppure può prendere forma dalle direttive dello sceneggiatore (nel caso il fumettista lavorasse alla produzione di opere altrui).
Motivo per cui, il primo compito del fumettista è quello di comprendere in modo chiaro quale sia la via dell’opera che vuole realizzare, gli stili dei personaggi, gli scenari da rappresentare, in altre parole, deve avere ben chiaro in mente quale sia il mondo che vuole creare.
Una volta chiaro il progetto, si passa ad eseguire le prime bozze, i primi disegni nella quale, il fumettista, cerca di riportare la propria fantasia, le proprie immagini nella testa sul foglio, affinché esse possano poi essere visibili al mondo intero.
Il compito del fumettista sarà quello di sistemare e correggere queste bozze al punto tale da trasformarle in quelle che saranno, poi, le immagini finali da trasmettere ai lettori.
Altro compito fondamentale del fumettista è quello di dare delle vere e proprie emozioni ai diversi personaggi, dare loro un’anima così da renderli umani anche se solo in 2D.
Fatto questo, deve essere capace di mantenere caratteristiche e tratti distintivi di ogni personaggio (e delle ambientazioni stesse) nelle diverse scene che verranno.
La bravura del fumettista, infatti, non sta solo nel saper disegnare. Il mondo è pieno di gente capace di disegnare, ciò però non vuol dire che siano capaci di dare vita a un’opera come un fumetto.
Il fumettista racconta delle storie, delle narrazioni, se vogliamo persino delle realtà alternative nella quale la gente riesce a immergersi, fantasticare e, spesso, evadere dalle difficoltà della vita.
Insomma, non sono semplici disegni quelli all’interno di un fumetto, è un vero e proprio mondo alternativo e bisogna avere le abilità per raccontarlo.
Infine, una volta completate le varie bozze delle diverse vignette, si passa a quella che è la fase di inchiostrazione e, successivamente, in base alla tipologia di fumetti (i fumetti orientali sono spesso lasciati privi di colore, salvo per le edizioni speciali o per particolari tipi di fumetti) si passa alla colorazione degli stessi.
Durante queste ultime fasi, il fumettista può ancora improvvisare delle correzioni alle varie vignette tramite l’aggiunta di piccoli dettagli o ombreggiature, necessarie a rendere l’opera impeccabile.
A questo punto, potremmo definire conclusi i principali compiti del fumettista.
Come forse avrete intuito, in questa sede abbiamo esaminato i compiti del fumettista completo. Nel caso di un fumettista specializzato in un unico campo le mansioni saranno certamente diverse ma di queste parleremo, eventualmente, in articoli specifici a quelle professioni.
È giunto il momento di andare a capire se le capacità e le abilità di questo artista vengono riconosciute e quindi ben retribuite dalla società.
2. Quanto guadagna un fumettista
Prima di vedere le cifre, è importante sapere che il fumettista appartiene all’area professionale di “Pittori, scultori, disegnatori e restauratori di beni culturali” giusto per farvi comprendere che quella del fumettista è più un’arte che una professione.
Purtroppo, come ben si sa, il mondo dell’arte è da sempre spietato e il fumettista non viene di certo risparmiato.
I criteri che determinano lo stipendio di questa professione sono davvero tanti. Nel caso si riuscisse a emergere, i compensi dipenderanno molto dalla fama dell’autore, dalla qualità e l’originalità della storia, dalla qualità dei disegni, dalla casa editrice e molto altro ancora.
Inoltre, non girano molte notizie ufficiali su quanto percepisca un fumettista. Secondo alcune voci circolate da qualche addetto ai lavori, per ogni tavola completa consegnata è possibile portare a casa tra i 40 e i 60 euro circa (ricordate che le cifre, in realtà, dipendono sopratutto dai criteri elencati in precedenza).
Rimanendo in tema Italia, purtroppo, le cifre non sono delle migliori. In media, buona parte dei fumettisti italiani arrivano a percepire al massimo tra i 12000 e i 15000 euro annui.
Per i più fortunati, si può arrivare a guadagnare fino a 24000 euro l’anno ma, comunque, cifre ben distanti dai colleghi orientali e non solo.
3. Come si diventa fumettista
Una volta, per diventare fumettisti non si seguivano scuole, corsi e quant’altro, si stava sotto l’ala di un altro fumettista più esperto e si carpivano conoscenze e segreti del mestiere.
In linea di massima, per diventare fumettista servono buone capacità di disegno ed essere in grado di eseguire un fumetto.
Oggi, però, i tempi sono molto cambiati. Nonostante non sia necessario alcun titolo di studio particolare, è fortemente consigliato frequentare un corso o una scuola capace di insegnarti i segreti del mestiere.
È possibile scegliere di frequentare un liceo artistico e, una volta terminato, per chi volesse continuare gli studi, potrebbe proseguire con un’Accademia di belle Arti.
In questo modo avrete la possibilità di apprendere materie essenziali come tecniche di inchiostratura, analisi dell’anatomia e della prospettiva, sceneggiatura e character design.
Come già detto in precedenza, non è obbligatorio. Non sono pochi i fumettisti che, privi di percorsi formativi specializzati, hanno poi avuto una splendida carriera nel mondo del fumetto.
