L’articolo di oggi è incentrato su un tipo di lavoro che più degli altri è stato penalizzato dall’avvento delle nuove tecnologie, ossia la professione del cameraman detto anche operatore di ripresa.

A tutti noi capita di guardare programmi televisivi, fiction o telegiornali ma spesso non ci rendiamo conto che la perfetta inquadratura che siamo in grado di ammirare è data proprio dalle persone poste dietro le cineprese ovvero i cameraman.

Ma cosa sappiamo realmente di questo lavoro? Il cameraman è soltanto colui che tiene la telecamera? E inoltre, quanto arriva a percepire un soggetto che svolge questa attività?

Bene, le risposte a queste e ad altre domande saranno al centro di questo nostro articolo così da fare luce su questo mestiere avvolto da così tanti misteri.

Ma veniamo al dunque partendo subito con il primo punto.

1. Quali sono i compiti che un cameraman deve svolgere?

Il primo nodo da sciogliere riguarda senza alcun dubbio le varie attività che un cameraman deve svolgere.

La prima fase per ogni cameraman è lo studio della location (in particolare quando si parla di girare film, fiction o documentari) ossia fare un sopralluogo dell’ambiente che dovrà essere ripreso.

Anche se ciò può sembrare un dettaglio di poco conto specie se si pensa ai cameraman posti dietro le telecamere dei telegiornali, vi assicuriamo che così non è. Infatti, anche gli operatori di ripresa dei vari Tg devono prestare attenzione a questo aspetto per evitare possibili intoppi come ad esempio luci troppo forti che impediscano la giusta inquadratura del giornalista.

Detto ciò, passiamo ora agli aspetti tecnici di questo lavoro.

Fra le altre mansioni del cameraman troviamo:

1. Montaggio dell’attrezzatura da lavoro;

2. Realizzazione delle riprese: ciò include:

  • controllo dell’inquadratura (come ad esempio impedire ad oggetti estranei di comparire nella scena)
  • regolazione della messa a fuoco, della qualità e della velocità dei movimenti della macchina da ripresa
  • controllo dei particolari di scena (impedendo ad esempio un contrasto troppo forte delle luce)
  • collaborazione con gli altri operatori di ripresa per un corretto svolgimento dell’attività

In alcuni casi potrebbe anche essere richiesta la selezione delle scene da montare oltre a eventuali aggiunte come ad esempio sottotitoli, effetti sonori o la creazione di effetti o animazioni.

Queste sono le principali attività che un cameraman è chiamato a svolgere nella sua professione.

Terminato l’aspetto tecnico, addentriamoci ora in quello economico, cercando di capire quali sono le cifre che un operatore di ripresa è in grado di portare a casa.

2. Quanto guadagna un cameraman

Prima di arrivare a numeri e cifre, ci teniamo a precisare che anche in questo lavoro come in qualunque altro, sono presenti tantissimi fattori capaci di alterare i reali guadagni percepiti da questa professione.

Fatta questa premessa, cercheremo comunque di essere quanto più precisi possibili così da potervi fornire le migliori informazioni in merito a tale attività.

Veniamo al dunque. A differenza di ciò che si possa pensare, la paga del cameraman, il più delle volte, è molto più bassa di ciò che si crede.

Più nello specifico si parla di un paga che varia da circa 500 euro al mese per coloro che sono privi di esperienza (la paga iniziale potrebbe essere anche più elevata ma questa è la cifra base che solitamente viene offerta) fino ad arrivare a guadagnare tranquillamente 1500 euro mensili e anche di più per coloro che hanno alle spalle anni di esperienza.

Per coloro che lavorano come freelance la paga solitamente varia tra i 10 e i 25 euro all’ora a seconda dell’esperienza dell’operatore e del lavoro richiesto (oltre che ad altri fattori).

Queste che vi abbiamo mostrato sono le cifre medie che gli operatori di ripresa solitamente prendono ma, come accennato agli inizi, la paga potrebbe essere non poco differente dalle cifre sopra citate.

E anche l’aspetto economico è concluso. Dopo tutto ciò che è stato mostrato fino ad ora mi sembra doveroso per tutti coloro interessati a questo tipo di professione mostrare quali sono le tecniche per intraprendere questa carriera. Passiamo dunque a quello che sarà l’ultimo punto di questo articolo.

3. Come diventare cameraman

Per svolgere questa professione è possibile seguire diverse strade. Alla base è importante possedere passione per la fotografia e per ciò che concerne il mondo cinematografico.

Ma passione a parte, i criteri per poter diventare cameraman sono l’aver compito 18 anni (il più delle volte) essere in possesso di una propria attrezzatura e, cosa più importante, frequentare un corso che rilasci un attestato spendibile nel mondo del lavoro.

Questi corsi offrono sia lezioni teoriche che pratiche così da permettere al soggetto di apprendere tutto ciò che è necessario conoscere sulla camera e sui differenti sistemi di ripresa.

Una volta terminato il corso si è finalmente pronti per entrare nel mondo del lavoro per questo tipo di professione ma tenete sempre a mente che più esperienza sarete in grado di acquisire più facile sarà per voi diventare cameraman nel ramo che più preferite che sia il settore del cinema, dei documentari o della TV.
