Il vivaista è una professione non molto conosciuta, nonostante il suo ruolo nel reparto agricolo sia fondamentale quanto quello dell’agricoltore.
Questo esperto del ramo agricolo, si occupa della coltivazione e della produzione di una grande varietà di specie vegetali come ad esempio alberi, piante, fiori, semi e bulbi, tutti destinati alla vendita sia in scala industriale che non.
Le coltivazioni avvengono in appositi spazi quali serre o vivai, strutture protette che permettono così di produrre in qualunque stagione e con qualunque tipo di condizione climatica.
Ora che conosciamo qualcosa in più su questa professione, vediamo quali sono i compiti svolti da un vivaista.
1. Quali sono le mansioni del vivaista
Il lavoro del vivaista si svolge in aree sia chiuse che aperte, a seconda del tipo di coltivazione che sta andando a produrre.
Il suo principale compito è quello di coltivare fiori, piante e alberi, seguendo quindi la loro crescita fino a che non avranno raggiunto il completo sviluppo e potranno essere vendute.
Seguire la crescita significa prendersi cura delle proprie piante, seguendone tutte le diverse fasi della crescita.
Ciò vuol dire seguire tutta una serie di procedure che porteranno le coltivazioni a crescere nel migliore dei modi, come ad esempio innaffiarle quotidianamente, effettuare delle potature ove necessario, invasamenti e trapianti, aggiungere terriccio qualora non dovesse essere sufficiente, utilizzare fertilizzanti e concimi per tenere al sicuro le piante e farle sviluppare al meglio e, in tutto questo, esaminare boccioli e germogli per osservare il loro stato di crescita.
Tutti questi lavori vengono eseguiti secondo tempistiche ben definite al fine di favorire al meglio il naturale ciclo di crescita delle diverse coltivazioni.
Nel caso delle coltivazioni in serre o nei vivai, il vivaista ha il compito di tenere sotto controllo l’ambiente in cui crescono le piante. Ciò implica, tenere d’occhio la temperature delle strutture, l’umidità, la ventilazione e persino l’illuminazione a cui sono soggette le colture.
Inoltre, il vivaista ha il compito di tenere lontani tutti quegli agenti esterni che possono rischiare di rovinare le coltivazioni come topi, insetti, parassiti, funghi e, in caso di malattie delle piante, cercare di prevenirne la diffusione.
Per tale ragione fra gli strumenti usati dal vivaista per la cura delle piante troviamo antiparassitari, pesticidi, insetticidi e tutti quei prodotti chimici o naturali di tipo fitosanitario.
La produzione di queste coltivazioni, come anticipato all’inizio, ha il fine ultimo di essere messo in commercio e venduto.
Per cui, il vivaista, una volta completata la crescita, si occupa della raccolta, dell’immagazzinamento, e in fine della preparazione per la vendita diretta o per l’eventuale spedizione.
Essendo esposto alla vendita diretta, implica che una parte del vivaio o delle serre sia aperta al pubblico, così da mostrare le diverse coltivazioni e fornire ai clienti informazioni utili in merito alle piante e ciò che occorre fare per prendersene cura al meglio.
Altri compiti del vivaista, essendo il diretto responsabile della cura e della gestione delle piante, riguardano l’utilizzo e la manutenzione delle intere attrezzature del vivaio, nonché degli strumenti necessari a farle crescere.
Tra questi ci sono i sistemi di riscaldamento, di ventilazione, di irrigazione, le celle frigorifere, i trattori, gli strumenti manuali e automatici, insomma, un po’ tutta l’attrezzatura presente nella struttura.
L’ultimo compito che un vivaista è tenuto a svolgere, è redigere l’inventario e, se occorre, ordinare eventuali nuove forniture.
Queste sono le mansioni a cui un vivaista è sottoposto, volendo sintetizzare il tutto, potremmo classificare i suoi compiti in:
- Prendersi cura giornalmente delle piante e di tutte le coltivazioni presenti in sede
- Intervenire sulle piante con sistemi di potatura, innesti, invasamenti e trapianti
- Svolgere i lavori per la cura delle piante secondo apposite tempistiche, per curare al meglio la crescita naturale delle varie colture
- Proteggere le piante attraverso l’uso di pesticidi, antiparassitari e tutto ciò che è necessario per la loro salvaguardia
- Eseguire controlli sulle strutture nel quale crescono le coltivazioni
- Gestire le vendite dei prodotti del vivaio
- Eseguire la manutenzione sulle attrezzature e sui macchinari presenti nel vivaio
Questo è ciò che concerne i compiti del vivaista, ora che sappiamo cosa fa, andiamo a vedere quanto percepisce.
2. Quanto guadagna un vivaista
Il vivaista è un professionista che può lavorare in aziende vivaistiche, serre, negozi di fai-da-te o di bricolage, aziende agricole e ortofrutticole, dunque il suo stipendio dipenderà molto oltre che dall’esperienza, dal datore di lavoro per il quale andrà a lavorare, la zona e, cosa ancora più importante, le dimensioni delle strutture dove offrirà i propri servizi.
In media, il suo stipendio è sui 1250 euro mensili, con un minimo che arriva a sfiorare gli 800 euro e un massimo che può superare i 1650 euro mensili, con punte massime di oltre 2400 euro mensili circa.
In base all’esperienza, invece, un vivaista alle prime armi con al massimo 3 anni di lavoro alle spalle, percepisce circa 1000 euro (in media).
Dai 4 ai 9 anni d’esperienza può arrivare a percepire in media 1200 euro mensili.
Un vivaista con grande esperienza e quindi con circa 10-20 anni di lavoro alle spalle, arriva a prendere all’incirca sui 1450 euro mensili.
Giunto quasi a fine carriera, quindi con oltre 20 anni di esperienza, un vivaista può aspettarsi uno stipendio medio complessivo di circa 1580 euro mensili.
Insomma, non proprio uno dei lavori più pagati sul mercato del lavoro.
Per coloro che sono interessati a intraprendere questa professione arrivano le buone notizie, per cui, continuate la lettura.
3. Come diventare vivaista
Per fare il vivaista è sufficiente la licenza media, però, per essere più appetibili sul mercato, è consigliabile accrescere le proprie conoscenze attraverso la formazione.
In questo caso, si consiglia un corso di studi a indirizzo agrario, agro-alimentare o agro-industriale, così da apprendere le basi del mestiere.
Inoltre, considerando che le serre e i vivai più moderni utilizzano apparecchiature sempre più sofisticate e moderne come ad esempio quelle per il controllo ambientale, è consigliabile seguire corsi di laurea come ad esempio:
- Scienze e tecnologie alimentari
- Scienze e tecnologie agrarie
- Biotecnologie agrarie
- Scienze e tecnologie agrarie e forestali
- Scienze e tecnologie agro-alimentari
In alternativa ai vari corsi di laurea, esistono altri tipi di corsi professionali in vivaismo e giardinaggio che forniscono nozioni e qualifiche utili per intraprendere questa carriera.
